Finding Contentment

This is my first attempt at writing in a blog.  I just found a blog my daughter started and thought it might be interesting to write one.  Because of my semi-new marriage to my wonderful hubby, I am living a rather unique life in two different states-VA and MI.  I spend time with Michael up in Michigan when my daughters are with their dad in Virginia.  Then when the girls are with me, I am in Virginia with them.  We've been doing the back and forth thing for three and a half years!  We have the same amount to go...we are mid-way through this!

I often find myself londging for the day I'm in one place all the time but I'm trying to teach myself that there is joy to be found when we can be content with where we are in life instead of longing for something different.  I guess my new life verse should be, "I have learned whatever state I am in to be content..." The meaning of "state" would be quite literal here, although I'm sure that isn't what the Apostle Paul meant when penning those words.  But beyond where I am physically, I need to be content with my circumstances wherever God might have me.  I believe that is the key to true joy!

So, I continue to strive to find things I can be thankful for each day. When you stop to consider everything you have, one realizes that there are numerous blessings all around us.  It's all about perspective and appreciating what is instead of longing for what isn't! I need to continually keep "looking up" to the One who knows me and knows what's best for me. He sees it all and can be trusted with everything- even that which I don't understand! The most reassuring thing I know is that God is in control of it all!

This was actually written a year and a half ago. I just thought about this blog because I discovered another blog my daughter is writing. This one is her true blog.  The other one was just one she had written for school on technology.  Her "real" blog is full of insightful, interesting thoughts which
would make sense because she is both of those things! =)  Anyhow, we'll see if I begin to write in
this blog on a more regular basis.  Until then, I still am trying to do the above...maintain a grateful
heart and a thankful spirit! I truly believe it is the key to contentment.

And Poof It Was Gone...

I just finished writing my first wonderfully profound blog just to have it suddenly disappear with one mis-stroke of my finger!  First lesson learned today in the world of blogging, save as you write! ;-)  Now that I've spent way too long writing and have nothing to show for it, I'll have to be "content" to say it was about "Finding Contentment".  Funny!  Must go for now but will try to check back in later and see if I can recreate my first attempt.
